Choosing a test

If this is your first test, the Essential Wellness package covers the core markers most people want to see — blood sugar, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, and a full blood count. Choose a larger package if you want thyroid, vitamin or hormone markers as well. If you’re tracking something specific your doctor has mentioned, the Custom Panel lets you pick exactly what you need.
They differ in how many markers are measured, not in how the test is done — the visit, the draw and the report work the same way for all of them. Compare the three packages.
You choose the individual markers you want rather than taking a fixed package. It suits people repeating a specific test, following up on something a doctor flagged, or tracking one thing over time. If you’re not sure what to pick, message us and we’ll help you build it.
Yes. Buy it as normal and we’ll arrange the appointment with the person taking the test — we’ll need their name, contact number and address to book the medical technologist. They need to be able to give consent themselves.

Booking and the visit

A licensed medical technologist. They arrive in uniform with ID, and we send you their name in advance so you know who to expect.
About 10 minutes. Most of that is paperwork and getting set up — the draw itself takes under a minute.
Yes, as long as there’s a private space with a chair and a table. Let us know the address and any building access details when you book.
Yes. Message us at least 12 hours before your appointment and we’ll move it at no charge.

Preparing for the test

Yes — no food for 6 to 10 hours before the draw. Once your appointment is confirmed we send you the exact time to stop eating, so you don’t have to work it out yourself.
Yes, and you should. Plain water doesn’t break the fast, and being hydrated makes the draw quicker and more comfortable. Only plain water though — coffee and tea break the fast even with nothing added.
No. Keep taking your prescription medication exactly as normal and do not skip a dose for this test. Only your own doctor should change your medication. Just tell the medical technologist what you’re taking when they arrive.
Don’t cancel. Tell the medical technologist when they arrive — they’ll record it, and most of your results will still be reliable. Blood sugar and cholesterol are the ones affected, and your doctor will read them with that in mind.
Morning is easier for two reasons: most of the fasting happens while you’re asleep, and some markers shift naturally through the day, so morning results are easier to compare against reference ranges and against your future tests. We can arrange later slots if mornings don’t work for you.

Your results

In your Vitals account, on the web or in the app. You’ll get a downloadable PDF as well as an on-screen version that explains each marker in plain language.
Yes. Results are reviewed before they’re released to you, and anything that needs urgent attention is escalated so you’re contacted directly rather than finding it in a report.
Slightly-out-of-range results are common and usually not serious. Your report explains what each marker means and whether it’s worth following up. If something needs prompt attention, we’ll contact you directly.
Yes — you can book a consultation through Vitals Telehealth portal to go through the report with a doctor.
Yes. Download the PDF from your account and send or bring it to any doctor you like. It includes the lab reference ranges and the collection date, which is what they’ll need.
No. A blood test measures specific markers at one point in time. It’s a useful picture of what’s happening in your body, but a diagnosis needs a doctor who can consider your symptoms, history and examination alongside the numbers. Our reports are written to help you understand the results and know when to seek care — not to replace a consultation.
